We help where the need is greatest. Lake County NAACP has the following task forces:
- Lake County NAACP and County Prosecuting Attorney Charles Coulson are chairing the effort for the 'Begin the Conversation' - an open and free forum dedicated to
building relationships, achieve trust, educate the community and obtain solutions
- Freedom Fund Banquet has been held yearly for 57 years.
- Quilt Raffle
- Providing tutoring for Heritage Middle School
- Actively involved with the Painesville City School Volunteer Program
- Partnering with Bryant Stratton and the City of Painesville to bring a computer center to Painesville
- Worked with the Painesville City Schools and Ohio State University to bring ‘Real World, Real Money’ to the Painesville school system.
- New membership exchange with the Downtown Painesville Organization
- Invited New York City performer, James Penca to perform a Master Class for the performing artists of Harvey High School
- Actively volunteer for the United Way of Lake County
- Worked with Lakeland Community College and Mentor Schools to develop a functioning website for the Lake County NAACP, providing experience for students involved in
the Capstone Project out of Lakeland
- Has a functioning Lake County Youth and College Unit- something that many areas/cities that are much larger do not have
- Disseminates information on employment that has actually led to employment of individuals
- Has many scholarship programs that awards scholarships to deserving minority youth
- Is actively working to involve more of Lake County in its efforts, in order to bring their diverse talents to the effort to serve the community
